Key Concepts - media analysis

Key Concepts - media analysis

Language
The title and font of this movie, the credits at the bottom, the background image, the quote from the movie and the famous and well respected actors name are all key conventions of a film poster advert. The Actors name is mentioned at the top in a clear and interesting font to catch the attention of the fans of this specific actor. There is a quote underneath the actors name ,which is from the movie, which defines what the  movie is going to be based around from the first look. Therefore the fans of the specific  genre, which is crime/action, can easily associate this movie around the genre from the first look.Accordingly then the fans are attracted and will be interested in more information about this movie. The background image, where there is the main protagonist standing in what looks like a flooded area, elucidates the interpolation of action and crime genre in this movie. The title "Inception" has very interest format to parallel the adventure in the movie. So therefore this will mean it catches the viewers eye and mean they remember the name which means the film will get more attention and more sales.Underneath the title, it states "from the director of The dark night" so the fans of the dark night/ or the fans of the director who directed the "The dark night" will be instantly attracted to the is movie and will associate enjoyment when they watched the dark night to this movie.Consequently it will mean that "inception" will receive alot of attention from the audience and will mean it receives  more ticket sales. It also says "Experience it Summer 2010 MAX" the editor uses the in powerful verb "experience" to describe seeing the film as seeing an event happen. This makes the people seeing the film excited for whats to come.
Institution
The is institution behind this movie is Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.Which is a major production company.Warner owns half of The CW Television Network. It is the world's largest film and television studio.Warner has 3 major rivals:20th century fox,Paramount Pictures and universal studios.Warner Bros Entertainment Inc is also the distribution company of such blockbusters like the dark night so therefore customers perceive good quality films when they see the Warner bros logo on the poster.

Audience
The target audience gender is 60/40 male and the age range is between 13 to 36 as the film has alot of action and men are more likely to be fans of action more than female. This movie was also targeted towards the customers who watched "The Book of Eli" which also was released in 2010.The same year but before the "inception".

Representation
The represented illustrated in this promotional advert is trying to portray the image that men who wear suits are "gangster"(mafia gangster) and people should inspire to be like the mafia gangsters as they live action packaged lives as shown in the background flooding image.

Media Debate

Media Debate
I agree that "newspapers are more interested in selling newspapers than reporting news truthfully" as professionally  the news paper companies need to make money. To make money they need to sell a significant amount of copies, and to engage the consumers and make them interested in the paper. So therefore  they are able to twist a story and change the point of view to make it and interesting and  and sell newspaper.
